EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement on Tuesday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, described the refinery’s revival as a key milestone toward self-sufficiency in petroleum refining. Addressing claims that the refinery is not operational, Soneye confirmed it is running at 70% capacity, with plans to increase output to 90%.
The statement detailed the refinery’s daily production output, including:
- Straight-Run Gasoline (Naphtha): Blended into 1.4 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
- Kerosene: 900,000 litres.
- Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel): 1.5 million litres.
- Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO): 2.1 million litres.
- Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG): Additional volumes.
The refinery also uses a crack C5 blending component from Indorama Petrochemicals to ensure compliance with gasoline quality standards, a globally recognized practice in refining processes.
NNPC also highlighted advancements on the new Port Harcourt Refinery, which is nearing operational readiness.
Calling for unity, the statement urged Nigerians to support efforts under President Bola Tinubu’s administration and dismiss malicious attacks on NNPC’s progress.
“Let us build a stronger, self-sufficient energy sector together,” the statement concluded, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering greater benefits to the nation.
